Dream Works Water Park Location
As part of a retail and entertainment complex, the water park is one of the many family-friendly things to do in American Dream.
American Dream is located at 1 American Dream Wy, East Rutherford, New Jersey 07073. It is part of the Meadowlands Sports Complex which includes the MetLife Stadium where the Jets and the Giants play.
At this water park, Nickelodeon theme park is located next door. While there is a Dreamworks Theme Park elsewhere in the USA, there is cross-over with Nickelodeon Universe at the American Dream because both brands are owned by the same parent company.
The water park is located down a ramp from the main American Dream stores. The ticket lobby is actually very pretty and has lounge chairs!
Dreamworks Water Park Tickets
You will need to purchase Dreamworks Water Park tickets to enter the water park.
The Dreamworks Water Park tickets can be purchased online. The Dreamworks Water Park tickets do sell out so it’s advisable to reserve and purchase tickets in advance of your visit. Moreover, there is a surcharge if you buy in person on the day.
Ticket prices are divided into peak (Fridays, weekends and holidays) and non-peak days (Monday through Thursday).
Types of Passes
You can buy an all-access park pass for the whole day or a Twilight Pass which is good for just the last 2 hours that the water park is open.
The Turbo Pass upgrade is a fast pass option, which allows you unlimited skip-the-line rides at 15 of the water park slides. You need a Turbo Pass for each child and their supervising companion. During peak times, there can be up to an hour wait for water slides.
Children under the age of 14 need to have a supervising companion with them. Children under the age of 2 are free to enter the Dreamworks Water Park.
Wristbands control entry into Dreamworks water park rides (as well as the lockers – see below).
Dreamworks Water Park Discount Options
Sometimes you can get DreamWorks Water Park discount codes courtesy of the mailing list at the American Mall.
When purchasing tickets online, you can also bundle other discounted American Dream Mall attractions, such as the Nickelodeon theme park.
Dreamworks Water Park Map
The Dreamworks Water Park map will be useful to navigate your way around the Dreamworks Water Park rides and the Dreamworks Water Park slides.
Dreamworks Water Park Rides
The American Dream Mall pool area is the largest indoor water park in North America!
At this indoors water park in New Jersey, there are over 40 slices and attractions including a wave pool, and a lazy river.
At this water park in New Jersey, indoor options means there is definitely enough children’s play activities to provide indoor family entertainment for an entire day.
Dreamworks Water Park Slides
This water park has the world’s tallest indoor drop slide and and one of the world’s tallest and longest hydromagnetic water coasters that circles pretty much the entire pool area.
With so many different types of water slides – drop slides, mat slides, tube slides, racing slides and body slides, you will be spoiled for choice. There are height requirements for the different slides.
With so many slides, finding the right set of stairs for the right slide can present a challenge. Make sure the letter of your slide from the Dream Works Water Park Map corresponds to the stairs you think it is before you being your stair climb!
The Thrillagascar and Jungle Jammer are free-fall water slides that drop down 14 floors.
Shrek’s sinkhole slammer is a six-story raft ride that drops into a funnel.
Older kids will like the Majunga Jump and Penguin Plummet which are slides that land in deep water. My teens loved Mad Flush which is a slide that drops you out of a giant funnel but that was a little too much for the tweens in our group.
Other Dream Works Water Park Rides
Toothless Trickling Torpedo is a fun family ride and the world’s longest hydromagnetic rocket coaster. Looping around most of the entire complex, this ride goes for 1600 ft and involves conveyor belts, enclosed tubes and several slides! The raft on this water coaster accommodates 4 people at a time. Take this rocket coaster early in your day because the lines for it can get very long!
The adults preferred more sedate activities like the hot tubs and the bubbly lazy river. The hot tubs are on two stories and the lower one has a waterfall feature.
There are a couple of themed areas just for the youngest guests. There’s the KungFu Panda Temple of Awesomeness with its giant tipping bucket of water, sprinklers and slides. Nearby, there are a selection of gentle slides on the Penguins Frozen Fun Zone for little kids.
American Dream Mall Pool
We spent a lot of time just playing in the Far Away Bay which is a great name for a (very) large pool. It is zero-depth entry and goes up to 5 feet.
When the horn sounds, Far Away Bay becomes the largest indoor wave pool you can imagine with 6 foot waves.
For younger children, there are life jackets available.
Music gets played from the DJ Booth shaped like a giant pineapple under the sea in honour of Spongebob Squarepants.
Dream Works Characters
You can even meet characters from your favourite Dreamworks animations like Shrek and Puss in Boots. Dream Works characters are available for regular photo opportunities and meet-and-greets.
American Dream Water Park Practicalities
The Water Park is heated at a comfortable temperature of 81 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. Extensive windows let the sunlight stream in.
Dream Works Water Park Lockers
There are handy lockers that you can rent to store your belongings which are accessible with wristbands. They are available in the changing rooms as well as by the entrance to the water park rides.
The Dream Works Water Park changing rooms (and bathrooms) are actually clean and sanitized. Water parks and community pools generally strike fear into my germaphobe heart. At this water park though, everything looked pretty clean and fresh even though the water park has been open for a couple of years.
Proper swim attire is required at this water park.
You will need to bring your own towels. Alternatively, you can pretty much buy everything you need at the American Dream Mall Water Park.
Dream Works Water Park Food and Drinks
There are food and drinks options at the water park at the American Dream Mall which run the usual gamut of theme park food. We are talking family-friendly options like pizza, sandwiches and hot dogs. And, yes, expect extortionate prices.
You can’t bring your own food or drink inside except for baby food or for special dietary needs.
In the Skybox Suites, you can order from selected restaurants in the mall including family favourite, Five Guys burgers and fries.
Dream Works Water Park Poolside Cabanas
There are bright and colourful poolside cabanas designed by Jersey Boy, Jonathan Adler.
The Poolside Cabanas are curtained for privacy and feature 2 sofas that can accommodate up to 5 people. They are adjacent to the large American Dream Mall pool.
Dream Works Water Park Skybox Suites
If you wanted more space, the 3-story skybox suites are more whimsical Adler designs. The Skybox Suites invoke three different types of beach experience – the European charm of Capri, the tropical allure of Bali or the vibrant Mexican colors of Tulum.
Overlooking the pool and rides, Skybox Suites come in three different sizes and can accommodate from 8, 10 and 16 people. All the themes come in each of the three different size rooms.
The Skybox Suites come with a lot of amenities, including a 65″ television, beach towels and complimentary Coke.
Skybox Suites have private bathrooms on each floor as well as their own private hot tub area.
Dream Works Water Park Seating
There are white plastic chairs spread throughout the water park where you can drop off towels and rest between activities. Although they were surprising comfortable, we hardly spent any time lounging in them.
Dreamworks Waterpark Hotel
If you are looking for a hotel at this indoors water park in New Jersey, you are out of luck. The American Dream does not have a Dreamworks waterpark hotel.
There are plenty of hotel options though nearby.
