The Drury Inn Huntsville is just across from the Huntsville AL Space Center but with a major interstate separating the two places, you will need a car to cross safely.
I found the Drury Inn Huntsville to be a great option for visiting my son. They have a laundry room which is very handy because he stayed for two weeks at the Huntsville AL Space Center camps – for both Space Camp and Aviation Challenge. When I picked him up for the weekend in between the two camps, I was able to do his laundry and send him back to camp with clean clothes.
There is a big buffet breakfast available at the Drury Inn Huntsville lobby every morning.
The Drury Inn Huntsville is popular with families. The breakfasts are a nice spread and the staff are friendly. Each room has a microwave as well as the usual amenities. The indoor pool is a big hit with families in the evenings.

Hotels in Downtown Huntsville Alabama tend to be pricer because of the ease of convenience to the charming historic downtown. We loved walking around downtown especially on the summer weekends. People spill out onto the street and you get that charming European vibe almost like cafe culture. We really liked the walkability and small town charm of the downtown Huntsville.

A good family option near the historic center of Huntsville is the Embassy Suites Huntsville Downtown hotel. Less swish than the Marriott AC nearby, the Embassy Suites is also near Big Spring Park. The Embassy Suites is connected to the Von Braun center with a walkway. There’s a Ruth’s Chris steakhouse on site as well as access to a Huntsville Alabama spa onsite.

We stopped by the location of the future Curio By Hilton which is still under construction. Curio by Hilton is their ‘boutique style’ hotel range from the Hilton Hotels so I am curious to see the end result. The location on Jefferson Street is fantastic and right near Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville AL.

My children LOVE American malls. Growing up in England, you don’t have malls like you have in the USA. American malls as far as my kids are concerned are the height of civilisation.
The Huntsville Alabama Bridge Street mall is a superb mall with restaurants, shopping and family-friendly activities like a carousel and a movie theatre. For little children, there is a charming little train that winds its way around the stores as well as a splash pad area for them to play. You have different entertainers singing and playing music as well.

The Bridge Street Mall is the location for the Apple Store in Huntsville Alabama as well as having a giant Barnes & Nobles (with Starbucks inside!). Being a geeky like the Rocket City is, my son found a Totaro (Japanese anime plush toy) that he had been coveting which made his day. This Huntsville mall also has a store for the local baseball franchise, the Trash City Pandas.
Although there is a lot of parking at this Huntsville mall, wouldn’t it be easier to stay nearby?
Huntsville Westin near Bridge Street
The Huntsville Westin near Bridge Street is an ideal location for the amenities of this outdoor mall. It’s a full-service luxury business hotel with indoor and outdoor pool and fitness center.

When we were at Bridge Street Mall, we could see that the Hyatt Place was under construction as well.
Huntsville AirBnB
When I pulled up to the Huntsville AirBnB my first evening, there were a bunch of police cars parked outside lights flashing. My heart sank because I have not had the best luck with AirBnB accommodation. I wanted to try out this Huntsville AirBnB because it came highly rated and also because of its location in a historic residential area.
I needn’t have worried because the police presence turned out to be an anomaly. I was told the police presence was because some underage kids were having a party in one of the rooms.
My choice for an AirBnB Huntsville AL wasn’t as charming on the outside as I had expected from the historic location.
My Huntsville AirBnB was perfectly nice located in the Old Town District behind one of the gorgeous Victorian homes. The building itself was a concrete box with a keypad entry which made me think that it was all AirBnB apartments. And, the same owner has multiple other listings as well so you could combine rooms to get your level of accommodation just right.
Luckily, the inside of my Huntsville AirBnB had more charm.
My apartment had a lockbox key entry which made arrival and departure easy. The parking was right in front of this Huntsville AirBnB as well. Places like Old Town Coffee are an easy walking distance nearby if you could stand to walk in that fierce Alabama heat!
